After navigating both double gameweek 25 and blank gameweek 26 we now have a normal gameweek to look forward to in gameweek 27. But enjoy it while it lasts because it`s just the calm before the storm. Gameweek 28 is a small double for Luton (CRY, BOU) and Bournemouth SHU, LUT) followed by the biggest blank gameweek of the season in gameweek 29.
We are looking at the best midfielders to transfer in for gameweek 27. Most of them also plays in gameweek 29 but there is one player that can`t be overlooked even tho he blanks that week.
Best FPL midfielders for gameweek 27
Son Heung-min (£9.6m) – Tottenham Hotspur
Next 4 fixtures: CRY (H), AVL (A), FUL (A), LUT (H)
Son didn`t have his best performance against Wolves in gameweek 25 with an xGI of only 0.12. Gameweek 26 was a blank so he should be well rested for the upcoming matches. Looking forward you really want him in your team. Proven FPL player that starts every match and plays 90 minutes. He’s also the penalty taker which gives him even more routes to points. At only 16% owned he could still be counted as a differensial but that won`t be the case for long tho. Expect a lot of managers to transfer him in.
Leon Bailey (£5.6m) – Aston Villa
Next 4 fixtures: LUT (A), TOT (H), WHU (A), WOL (H)
After his incredible display against Nottingham Forest where he had both a goal and an assist accumulating an xGI of 1.7 he can`t be ignored. Luton should be a good fixture to target and with a match against West Ham in blank gameweek 29 he has to be on this list. The only negative to point out is that his minutes have not been as secure but we think he`s worth the risk. Playing 80 minutes in gameweek 25 and 90 minutes in gameweek 26 tells us that he should be preferred in that villa attack at the moment. Priced at only £5.6m he could really be a bargain and a real differential as he`s only selected by 4.1%.
Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) – West Ham
Next 4 fixtures: EVE (A), BUR (H), AVL (H), NEW (A)
West Ham has been really poor the last 2 months just picking up their first win since gameweek 19 but the return of Paquetà seems to have reignited the West Ham attack. A hattrick against Brentford has put Bowen on a lot of manager’s radar again. He did overperform his xGI of 0.68 and they have Everton up next so it could be wise to wait one more week before transferring him in. But I would still rate him as a great buy this week and at only 17% owned he`s still low-owned.
Bukayo Saka (£9.2m) – Arsenal
Next 4 fixtures: SHU (A), BRE (H), CHE (H), MCI (A)
If you still don`t own Saka he has to be your number 1 transfer target this week even tho he blanks in gameweek 29. Arsenal is on an incredible run and is going to play Sheffield United in gameweek 27 which has one of the worst defenses this season with 66 goals against them. Saka should even be considered as a captain only slightly behind Erling Haaland. He is one of the most transferred in players this week but already highly owned as he`s selected by 65% of the players.
